With the launch of Licensing SAVI’s new interactive map feature, it’s easier than ever for customers to find safer venues.
The Licensing Security and Vulnerability Initiative (Licensing SAVI) is a scheme from Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI), developed in conjunction with the Home Office, with the aim of improving safety and security in licensed venues.
Licensed venues can undertake a self-assessment of their premises, looking at physical security such as CCTV and lighting, and policies and procedures around topics such as responsible drinking, drugs misuse, and safeguarding vulnerable customers. Recommendations are provided, aimed at maximising safety for all whilst working or socialising.
Once a venue has completed the assessment, they receive a star rating and are eligible for the accreditation. Once checked, the premises receives a certificate along with a window sticker and digital images displaying their star rating, so patrons can easily see which venues have taken extra steps to create a safer environment.
Licensing SAVI has venues accredited in England, Wales and Scotland, with registered premises in over 110 towns and cities across the UK. You can now see where these venues are located using the new ‘Find a Venue’ feature on the Licensing SAVI website at:

Licensing SAVI covers any venue which requires an alcohol licence, including:
- Pubs
- Bars
- Nightclubs
- Restaurants
- Hotels
- Theatres
- Sports Clubs
- Stadiums
- Arenas

Mark Morgan, Licensing SAVI, said: “We’re delighted to announce that anyone looking to socialise safely can now use our interactive ‘Find a Venue’ feature on our website. Users can find venues which have demonstrated being a safer licensed premise, having completed our security and vulnerability assessment and have subsequently been accredited by Licensing SAVI.
“We encourage those socialising to have a great and safe night out – ‘Look for the Stars’”
