Rochester's Casino Rooms renews Licensing SAVI accreditation

- News

Popular Kent venue Casino Rooms has demonstrated its continued commitment to staff and customer safety, renewing its Licensing Security and Vulnerability Initiative (Licensing SAVI) accreditation for a second year.

Casino Rooms originally achieved this accolade in late 2021 after successfully taking part in a police-led initiative to improve the safety and security of its premises for the benefit of staff, customers, and local communities. The renewal saw the venue re-assessing its procedures, policies and physical security for the coming year.

One of Kent’s largest nightclubs and event venues, Casino Rooms in Rochester has recently celebrated its 30th year in the trade. Having already achieving the Licensing SAVI accreditation back in November 2021, the venue’s experienced management team were eager to renew and consider any other areas where they could still improve.

Casino Rooms owner Aaron Stone commented on renewing the Licensing SAVI accreditation: “I found the new process to be much more streamlined than last time, yet it still provoked a deep dig self-reflection on how we operate the business on a very detailed level, where we already excel and, probably more importantly, where we can still improve. I would highly recommend this process to anyone who runs a licensed premises, irrespective of length of tenure. Thank you, Licensing SAVI.”

Available as an on-line self-assessment, Licensing SAVI brings together all the information that licensed premises need to comply with, in order to achieve a star-rating and have the opportunity to apply for Licensing SAVI accreditation and an award.

Mark Morgan, Business Manager at Licensing SAVI, added: “I’m delighted that we’ve seen the Casino Rooms joining other venues in renewing use of Licensing SAVI for a second year. Importantly for us, in terms of growing our initiative and ensuring it remains the best it possibly can be to support the hospitality and night-time industry, I’m grateful for the feedback from Aaron, who sees the benefits of being able to show their venue has taken further steps towards enhancing safety at their venue. Congratulation to the Casino Rooms on their achievement.”

Licensing SAVI was developed in partnership with the Home Office by Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI), which works alongside the Police Service to deter and reduce crime. As well as providing safer and more secure venues for managers, staff, customers, and local communities, it also seeks to reduce demand on Police Forces, NHS Ambulance Services and Accident & Emergency Departments.

Licensing SAVI

Licensing SAVI covers critical issues like responsible drinking, drugs misuse, violent behaviour and safeguarding vulnerable customers through to preventing opportunist theft and improving physical security, such as lighting and CCTV.

Most measures included in Licensing SAVI can be introduced quickly and at little or no cost.

The first police award of its kind, Licensing SAVI aims to support the licensing trade and is backed by the National Police Chiefs’ Council and Project Servator, a police-led vigilance scheme to deter terrorist attacks at crowded-places.
